We created a two storey, multi-use facility which includes a reception area, changing facilities, viewing gallery and other ancillaries, as well as sports provisions.
We had built a fantastic working relationship with our client before even starting on site, this really helped get the project off to a quick start.
This project progressed via a negotiated contract. We had been in close contact with our client from the college over a number of years.
We assisted with design development and providing advice on how to best utilise the space available.
Over time our relationship with our client went from strength to strength, and so when the time came to start the project we were awarded this contract. Due to the development we had already made with the design work our team were quick off the mark to start on site and ensure we were in line with programme.
Given the planning conditions, this project had to achieve a BREEAM Very Good rating which we were responsible for.
We worked closely with our client and their estates team to ensure BREEAM was carefully considered throughout the project. Regular meetings were held with the BREEAM assessors to ensure all required documents were completed and evidence provided within the agreed timeframes.
As we had worked with our client from the early conception stages of this project, we had ensured our design complied with the stringent BREEAM regulations.
Having worked on projects similar to this previously, our site team were perfectly placed to ensure they recorded all the necessary information for our evidence to be collated.
We handed over the project to our client who was keen to access this state-of-the-art facility as soon as possible. Our team were invited along to the opening ceremony which was a fantastic celebration for the college and its students, but also a huge achievement for our team.
The key to this project was the early relationship we had built with our client at the conception stage. Through developing our relationship and building on this, the client quickly realised our team are open, honest and transparent and would always put our clients first.
"I have no doubt that this building will help provide a springboard for girls’ cricket and tennis and for our excellent netballers to go into orbit. Boys’ cricket and tennis will undoubtedly thrive too."
