We were appointed to deliver a two-storey solution which housed classrooms, a fitness suite, office space, reception area, changing facilities, sports space and a viewing gallery.
Chauncy School needed new modern facilities to cater for a growing number of students and ensure thier needs were met. Following a tender process, we were appointed as main contractor to deliver this versatile new building.
Teaching space at the school was already in high demand and so we worked closely with our client to develop a design which incorporated eight new classrooms as well as the additional ancillaries.
Once planning permission had been secured, our delivery team arrived on site, working closely with the client’s business manager to ensure the site was suitably set up for a live environment.
As well as carrying out daily morning talks with operatives on site, our site manager briefed our client regularly about the works planned in for the week ahead to ensure as minimal disruption as possible.
During the build, the project manager attended site visits on a weekly basis to oversee the works as well has holding regular face-to-face meetings with our client. A strong working relationship was quickly built with our client and this had a really positive impact on the ease of the project.
Our team organised student visits to site regularly to allow them to see first-hand the progress being made.
This was a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with the new facility, as well as understanding about the different job roles available within the construction industry.
Following the building being handed over to our client, they were keen to organise an open day and invited all the students and local residents to view the fantastic facility. It is fair to say everyone was amazed by the space we had created and couldn’t wait to start using it.
Our client has since opened the facility up for use during evening and weekends to local residents and clubs. The fitness suite has encouraged a higher participation in students keeping active as well as the local community having access to the space. The classrooms are bright and airy, providing the students with a safe and creative place to learn.
"The project manager held regular meetings to keep us up to date on progress, the attention to detail on the financial tracking side of the project was spot on and ensured the project was delivered on time, and within budget."
